Srinagar, Aug 23 (KNO): As the big screen at the renovated clock tower at Lal Chowk Srinagar announced successful landing of Chandrayan-3 on the moon, locals and large number of tourists welcomed the historic development amid praises on the Indian Space Organisation (ISRO). Hundreds of locals and tourists assembled at the clock tower at Lal Chowk and watched the Chandrayan-3 landing on the moon. The crowd raised slogans and welcomed the development. Showering praises at the ISRO, the tourists said successful landing was a historic moment. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3, was telecasted live on the Big screen installed in Srinagar's commercial hub, clock tower (Ghanta Ghar). The momentous event was witnessed by both locals and tourists with all the joy and happiness. “I am very happy and thrilled to be a part of this historic moment. My happiness knows no bounds right now, and I would like to congratulate the entire nation for this remarkable achievement,” said Sanjay, a tourist from Maharashtra, while speaking to KNO. A woman tourist from Gujrat said: “This is a significant accomplishment, and its benefits will be known to our future generations, who will benefit from this. Despite not being a citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, I am here as a tourist, and I am extremely pleased to be a part of this historical moment right here at Srinagar's famous clock tower.” She said that, “Today is the highlight of our Kashmir trip, and our joy is indescribable. We are witnessing all of this from Kashmir, and it feels like a dream to us.” Meanwhile, J&K’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha congratulated the ISRO, team Chandrayaan and the entire space scientists community for successful landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon. India has become the fourth country ever to land a spacecraft on the moon and the first country to land on the South Pole. In a tweet, the LG said: "India is on the moon! Heartiest Congratulations to team @ISRO for success of #Chandrayaan3 lunar mission. Absolutely momentous achievement and important milestone in the development of India's space programme". The LG also said that with the great achievement, India become the fourth country in the world to achieve the great feat. National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Commissioner Aijaz Asad also welcomed successful Chandrayan-3 landing on the Moon. Omar tweeted: “So very pleased for the scientists at @isro. After the setback with #Chandrayaan2 in 2019 they dusted themselves off, wiped off the tears of disappointment & started again determined to succeed. They have taught us that a setback is not a failure, it’s a lesson to learn from. Today India became the 1st nation to land a probe softly on the south side of the moon. Hats off to the “Never Give In” spirit exemplified by @isro. #Chandrayaan3.” PDP chief Mehbooba also tweeted: “Heartiest congratulations to @isro for #chandrayaan3’s successful landing on the moon. A proud moment for all of us which wouldn’t have been possible without their sheer perseverance & dedication.” Earlier, special prayers were held at the Hazratbal shrine for the successful landing of Chandrayan-3 on the moon. “Special prayers held at Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar for the successful lunar landing of Chandrayaan-3. #Chandrayaan3Landing #Chandrayaan #ISRO #IndiaOnTheMoon,” tweeted DC Srinagar, Ajaz Asad—(KNO)
